Barnes School Elderly Housing * East Boston, Massachusetts 2007

Historic rehabilitation of the 1901 Joseph H. Barnes School into 74 units of senior housing including the restoration of the auditorium, the renovation and the excavation of the buildings crawl space to create additional parking.

 

 

Midway Studios * Boston, Massachusetts 2005

Midway Studios located in Boston's Fort Point neighborhood, was the adaptive reuse of three warehouses built between 1910-1914 by the Boston Wharf company.  It was originally used as  warehouses for the trade in wool, sugar and lumber.  It houses 89 artist live/work lofts, commercial offices, a gallery/cafe and a performance center.  The studios average 1,350 square feet and are available to only certified working artists.

 

 

Mattapan Heights II & III * Mattapan, Massachusetts 2005, 2007

Closed in 1996, The Boston Specialty and Rehabilitation Hospital consisted of 18 buildings.  It was built in the early 1900s as a 400 bed facility for tuberculosis patients. 

Phase II - Adaptive reuse and renovation resulting in 83 units of mixed income rental housing in 5 historic hospital buildings.

Phase III - The construction of 73 units of housing and approximately 5000 square feet for an adult day health program and community space. Twelve of which are in an adaptive reuse renovation, and 61 units and the community building in two new four story buildings.

 

Walter Baker Lofts * Dorchester, Massachusetts 2002

The Walter Baker Lofts was once the Administrative building of the Baker Chocolate Factory.  Built in 1919, the building had been vacant since 1965.  The historic Georgian Revival building was restored and converted into 13 open style loft apartments designated for artist as live/work spaces.  The three story central atrium provides meeting and exhibit space for both resident artists and for community groups.
